Un equipo de investigación antártico formado por marido y mujer muere a causa de un experimento sobre el plancton en estado salvaje. Seaview llega para investigar y tomar muestras de plancton. Pronto, el submarino corre el peligro de sucumbir a la horrible y viscosa vegetación. Nelson, Crane y la tripulación enfrentan otro problema: uno de los tres científicos a bordo del submarino es un agente enemigo.
